ColegauCymru is delighted that Wales will this week host the WorldSkillsUK National Finals for the first time on 25 - 28 November 2025, offering a major opportunity to highlight the talent, ambition and innovation emerging from our further education sector.

Of the 417 finalists competing from across the UK, Wales will proudly be represented by 102 young people from 10 colleges, taking part in 33 competitions in areas including industry 4.0, cyber security and renewable energy. Events will take place across three host colleges: Bridgend College, Cardiff and Vale College, and Coleg Gwent.

Celebrating Welsh Skills Excellence
Reaching the National Finals reflects the exceptional skill, dedication and determination of our learners and the support they receive from colleges across Wales. These competitions demonstrate the vital role FE plays in preparing young people with the technical and employability skills they need to thrive.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive, David Hagendyk, said,

“We are incredibly proud of every learner representing Wales at the WorldSkillsUK National Finals. Their achievements highlight the strength of our colleges and the high-quality skills development taking place across the country. Hosting the finals in Wales is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our talent, our innovation and our commitment to building a skilled workforce for the future.”

Why Hosting the Finals Matters
Skills competitions strengthen Wales’ economy by helping young people build confidence, resilience and expertise. With increasing focus on green industries, it is particularly encouraging to see momentum in areas such as renewable energy - reflecting the role FE colleges play in preparing learners for the sustainable jobs of tomorrow.
