Welsh FE colleges are celebrating after outstanding performances from their learners at EuroSkills Herning 2025. The competition, which took place in Denmark from 9 - 13 September, brought together Europe’s most talented young professionals across a wide range of technical and vocational skills.

Team Wales college learners were among the 7 medal winners of Team UK - Grŵp Llandrillo Menai learner, Yuliia Batrak and Coleg Cambria learner, Tomas Ankers.

Both Yuliia and Tomas received Medallions for Excellence, which shows they have reached an international standard in their respective fields - Restaurant Services and CNC Milling respectively.

Yuliia, a refugee who fled Ukraine in 2022 with her mother and sister and has since settled in Colwyn Bay, began her training in restaurant services at Coleg Llandrillo.

There were also finalists for NPTC Group of Colleges, Bridgend College and Pembrokeshire College.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive, David Hagendyk, said,

“Congratulations to Yuliia and Tomas. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and those of their fellow Welsh college learners who have showcased their skills on the European stage. Their success highlights not only their talent and determination but also the dedication of college staff who nurture and inspire them every day. Wales consistently punches above its weight in skills achievement, and it is fantastic to see our young learners reaching internationally recognised standards ahead of the WorldSkills UK Finals in November. Competitions such as EuroSkills play a vital role in raising aspirations and demonstrating the excellence within the Welsh FE sector.”

This international success comes as Wales looks forward to hosting the National UK Finals for the first time in November 2025, where colleges, apprentices, and training providers from across the four nations will gather to compete and celebrate vocational excellence.
