ColegauCymru and the further education sector are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Welsh Labour MS Hefin David.
Hefin was a brilliant advocate for his constituency, but also a champion for the transformational impact of post-16 education and training. His dedication and support for the college sector were clear to all who worked with him. His Transitions to Employment report stands as a testament to his commitment to creating better opportunities for young people, and his passion for access to learning for those with additional needs shone through in his work. 
As well as his work in the Senedd, Hefin had a close relationship with his local college - Coleg y Cymoedd, where he would meet with learners and staff to deepen his understanding of the impact of the further education sector on learners and communities. He will be missed, and our thoughts are with his partner, Vikki Howells MS, and his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
