ColegauCymru is inviting quotations from suitably qualified organisations to develop a guidance document and training framework to support suicide and self-harm prevention across the FE sector in Wales. The work is being commissioned with funding from Medr and forms part of a wider commitment to ensuring learners and staff are supported within safe, inclusive and compassionate learning environments.
The project will build on existing evidence, guidance and best practice in the field of suicide and self-harm prevention, while reflecting the distinct needs of further education colleges in Wales. Particular emphasis will be placed on promoting a whole-college approach and recognising the collective responsibility of staff in supporting learner wellbeing. The work will also consider developments across the wider tertiary sector, including Medr's regulatory requirements relating to learner and staff welfare.
ColegauCymru is seeking proposals from organisations with expertise in mental health, suicide prevention, stakeholder engagement and the development of practical guidance resources. The successful supplier will work with FE colleges across Wales, specialist organisations, vocational sector bodies and higher education partners to develop a resource that is evidence-informed, practical and relevant to the sector.
The project is expected to commence in October 2026, with draft guidance submitted by February 2027 and final guidance completed later that month. Once published, the guidance will be made available bilingually for use across FE colleges in Wales and shared more widely through relevant sector networks and communities of practice.
The maximum budget available for this work is £42,000 (inclusive of VAT).
