We're pleased to be sharing the story of Inspire! Life Change Award winner Fred Murad, whose commitment to learning has transformed his life, career and future following personal tragedy.

Following the death of his wife Claire in 2021, Fred found himself navigating life as a single parent to two young children. Determined to support his family and create new opportunities for the future, he decided to return to learning.
What started as a family learning course through Springboard at his children's school soon sparked a passion for education that would change the course of his life.
Since then, Fred has completed a wide range of courses, building skills in literacy, numeracy, digital learning and welding. Along the way, he discovered a renewed confidence and ambition, as well as a desire to keep learning and progressing.
Today, Fred is studying for a Foundation Degree in Inclusive Education while also working towards a teaching qualification at Pembrokeshire College. His learning journey has also led to a career change, moving from hospitality management into education, where he now works as a welding tutor.
Inspired by the support he received and the opportunities learning has created for him, Fred hopes to become a lecturer and encourage others to believe in their own potential.
Reflecting on his award, Fred said:
"To win is surreal. Learning opened doors for me at a time when I needed support most. Every step I've taken has helped me build a better future for myself and my children."
Fred's story is a powerful reminder that learning can help people rebuild confidence, develop new skills and transform their lives, whatever stage they're at.
