Face-to-face learning in colleges to begin from 15 June

ColegauCymru welcomes today’s statement from the Education Minister confirming that face-to-face learning provision in further education institutions will begin from 15 June.

Priority access will be given to both learners requiring licence to practice assessments and vulnerable/disadvantaged learners.

ColegauCymru, representing thirteen member colleges, has worked closely with Joint Trade Unions and Welsh Government representatives to ensure that learner and staff safety is at the heart of all the decisions made as we plan for the reintroduction of face-to-face learning provision. We continue to work closely with Welsh Government as they prepare to publish guidance to support FEIs on managing their facilities and logistical arrangements, including buildings, resources, cleaning and transport. This guidance is expected to be published next week.

Iestyn Davies CEO of ColegauCymru said

“There remain a number of challenges ahead and the exact model of delivery of further education will need to adapt in the short, medium and long term. These challenges can only be met by working in partnership with the unions and Welsh Government and by putting the wellbeing and needs of the learners at the heart of what has been and will remain a difficult decision-making process.”
