ColegauCymru has today welcomed the announcement made by the Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education, Cefin Campbell MS, at Eisteddfod y Garreg Las of the review of higher education in Wales.
ColegauCymru Chief Executive, David Hagendyk, said,
“We welcome today’s announcement on the Review of Higher Education in Wales and we recognise the particular challenges facing universities. We all have a shared interest in a thriving and successful higher education sector.
“The challenges facing the higher education sector cannot be considered in isolation, and it is essential that any funding implications from the review do not undermine the financial position of further education.
“It is crucial that the role of further education colleges in widening participation and meeting regional skills needs is considered as part of the review. Colleges can offer flexible and accessible provision as part of a rich mix of higher education across Wales.”
