Today, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Vikki Howells MS, published a statement on Developments to support the Initial Teacher Education and Professionalisation of the Tertiary Education Workforce.
Responding to the statement, ColegauCymru Director of Partnerships and Strategic Development, Kelly Edwards, said,
“We welcome the statement today from the Minister, and support her aspirations on strengthening the professionalisation of the further education workforce. A highly skilled workforce is fundamental for the success of our learners and colleges. We were pleased to be part of the advisory group to review Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provision for FE and we welcome the continuation of the advisory group to deliver an effective ITE programme for early career FE practitioners. Our staff are instrumental to the success of our further education colleges. We stand ready to continue our work with the Welsh Government and sector partners, and today’s statement has shone a welcome light on the work underway to develop the FE workforce of the future”.
