Teachmeet - Inspiring innovative teaching in FE Construction

The ColegauCymru Teaching and Learning Network is delighted to share details of the third in a series of Teachmeet events that will take place in February. 
  
Funded by Welsh Government, these events are designed to provide an opportunity to share good practice and to support knowledge exchange between FE and WBL colleagues across the FE sector in Wales.

Our third event will have a distinctive Construction and the Built Environment flavour and will take place on Wednesday 16 February 2022 between 4.30pm and 6.00pm.

Programme Outline

Our keynote speaker will be Katie Morrison of Kier Construction Group. As a former Pembrokeshire College student, Katie now works as a Senior Site Manager and is a passionate advocate for females in construction and STEM subjects. 

We’ll hear from Gareth Wyn Evans who heads up UWTSD Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC). Gareth will talk about the value of immersive technology in Construction whilst Huw Thomas from Coleg Sir Gar Coleg Ceredigion will talk about his experiences of this technology in action!

We’ll also hear from Hannah Pearce who’ll share details of how Gower College Swansea is developing in delivering towards the ‘green’ agenda.

We’ll hear further contributions from NPTC Group of Colleges. Talks include Bilingualism in Construction, Regional Collaborative Project in Construction, Student Behaviour and Engagement in Construction, and Stretch and Challenge in Construction.

The event’s closing comments will come from Chris Curtis of Pembrokeshire College. Chris is also Welsh Regional Chair of British Association of Construction Heads (BACH)
