ColegauCymru is pleased to confirm the final stage of its international collaboration to tackle peer-on-peer sexual harassment and misogyny among learners in further education. As part of the ColegauCymru Taith-funded project, Community of Practice members from Canada will undertake a one-week visit to Wales from 19 to 25 October 2025. As the project comes to an end, this visit is an opportunity for the transnational Community of Practice to share their expertise, learning and the project outcomes with a wider audience across Wales.
Visit Details: Engaging with Welsh Colleges
During their week-long stay, the Canadian delegation will visit three of Wales’ leading further education colleges: Coleg Cambria, Cardiff and Vale College, and Coleg y Cymoedd, all of which are part of the transnational Community of Practice. These visits will offer valuable insights into national, regional and local initiatives in this area of work, provide opportunities to engage with staff and learners and also to enjoy what Wales has to offer, both culturally and socially.
Annual Conference Participation
Community of Practice members from Canada and Wales will attend the ColegauCymru Annual Conference on 23 October 2025. As well as participating in the main conference sessions, they will facilitate a workshop to disseminate the project’s outcomes and raise awareness of the practical steps that can be taken to address misogyny within colleges. In addition, the Canadians will join the pre-conference dinner, providing further networking opportunities and the chance to build lasting relationships with their Welsh counterparts.
ColegauCymru International Project Manager, Siân Holleran, noted,
“By working together on this project, we have taken steps to address issues raised in Estyn’s 2023 report Peer on peer sexual harassment among 16 to 18-year-old learners in further education and work towards creating college environments where all learners feel safe, respected, and empowered.”
Similarly, Keith Campbell, Assiniboine College, Manitoba, Canada added,
“This project has enabled us to share expertise and experiences within and beyond Canada. We are looking forward to visiting Wales to build on these partnerships and to take back new ideas that will help strengthen our work at home.”
ColegauCymru and the Community of Practice members in Wales and Canada are looking forward to working together to share the impact of the project's activities and to lay the groundwork for future international collaboration.
