CollegesWales International was pleased to facilitate a recent study visit using Erasmus+ funding to build partnerships for learner and staff mobilities.

The visit saw colleagues from Spanish further education college, IES Abastos, which specialises in IT, web design and business qualifications, visit two south Wales colleges at the end of March.

In a 2-day whirlwind visit, Vicent Pavel Tortosa Lorenzo, Joaquin Martin Coné and Rafael Perez Dasí visited Cardiff and Vale College’s Dumballs Road campus and the state-of-the-art STEAM Academy, an exciting new building at Bridgend’s Pencoed campus, designed to accommodate teaching, learning and support facilities for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

Whilst at Cardiff and Vale College, the trio were given an insight to several areas including provision for Independent Living Skills, Health and Wellbeing, and Student Services.

The visit to Bridgend provided insight into the IT curriculum and digital literacy in Wales, the chance to observe a lesson in cyber security and an opportunity to discuss employment and employer engagement.

CollegesWales International Project Manager Sian Holleran said,

“Building strong partnerships for mobilities is an essential part of the exchange process. It’s invaluable for colleagues from different countries to come together to engage in knowledge exchange. This helps to ensure that all parties gain the maximum benefit from our learner and staff mobilities.”

Our guests were heartened by the friendliness of everyone they met whilst on their short visit to Wales. There was also an opportunity to enjoy some of our fantastic Welsh culture and beautiful countryside with a visit to St Davids and a hike up South Wales’ highest peak, Pen y Fan.
