ColegauCymru is pleased to be hosting a Post-16 Partnership event that will be championing success for young people who have additional learning needs (ALN) as they move through the education system in Wales.

These events will look at developing successful partnerships with key organisations to ensure the effective transition of ALN learners, with a focus on post-16 provision. The events come as local authorities, colleges and other stakeholders prepare to meet their duties under the new Additional Learning Needs and Educational Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018. This new legal framework is designed to support children and young people with ALN from 0 to 25 years of age.

Taking place over two half days, on the 19th and 25th November, these events have 180 registered delegates and will look at how different organisations can come together to work smart so as to achieve the best possible learning outcomes for young learners and their families.

ColegauCymru ALN Transformation Lead Chris Denham said,

“We’re delighted to have received such a positive response to these online events, which is timely as we look to prepare to implement the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal Act”.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive Iestyn Davies added,

“These events will centre around solutions-focussed thinking and will feature input from local authorities, health boards, further education and other stakeholders, ensuring that learners are at the heart of all decision-making”.

Further events will be scheduled in the new year as organisations look to implement the new legislation which will replace the current Special Educational Needs (SEN) framework.
